2008 Official Rules

  1. Internet Access:  All Owners must have a stable, reliable Internet connection. We highly recommend that you have a computer and Internet connection at home. If you are using a school or work Internet connection, read their policies concerning the use of their Internet service and follow them at all times! Don't get busted! Your success in the league is heavily dependent on being able to access the league website. The league is not responsible for any owner's loss of Internet access for any reason. The league is also not responsible for the performance of the league website, although we make every effort to keep it running smoothly.

  2. Rosters:  Each team will have 12 players. Each team will select the original 12 team members during the draft. 12 players must be kept on the team at all times. If a player is acquired off of waivers, one player on the current roster must be dropped. If a trade results in a team having more or less than 12 players, the roster must be returned to 12 players by adding or dropping players before kickoff of that week's first NFL game.

  3. Lineups:  During each week's game, the lineup for each team must be as such: 1 QB, 2 RB's, 2 WR's, 1 TE, 1 Kicker and 1 Def/Special teams. The remainder of each team will be on reserve or 'on the bench.' Each owner must submit his starting lineup by 5 minutes before kickoff of each player's game. Starting lineups will be set using the MyFantasyLeague.com league website. If, for some reason, you cannot set your starting lineup, you may submit your lineup to a commissioner by phone or e-mail and it will be set for you. ONLY submit your lineup by phone/e-mail as a last resort, and allow enough time for the commissioners to access the website and fix your lineup. If you do not set your lineup on time, you will automatically be given the same lineup as the previous week, regardless of bye weeks or injuries.

  4. Schedule:  The regular season will run from NFL week 1 through week 14. The playoffs will be in week 15 and 16. There are 3 divisions of 4 teams each. Each team will play division rivals twice during the season, and play non-divisional teams once.

  5. Waiver Claims:  At the start of each week's games, all available NFL players are placed on waivers. Owners then have until Wednesday night to place waiver claims for the players they want on the MyFantasyLeague.com website. The waivers will be run Wednesday night at approximately midnight and waiver claims will be awarded according to the waiver order. The waiver order will be set after each week's games in reverse order of the standings. This will allow the worst team to have first "dibs" on any pickups each week. After the waivers have run, all available players are considered free agents, and can be picked up on a first-come, first-serve basis until that week's first game starts. The initial waiver order of the season will be the reverse order of the first round of the draft. It is each owner's responsibility to learn how to use the waiver system correctly. A detailed explanation is available at http://www.myfantasyleague.com/help/index.html?options_46.html.

  6. Trades:  All trade requests and add/drop transactions must be submitted using the MyFantasyLeague.com league website by:
-6 PM Thursday (mountain time), or
-6 PM Wednesday, if there is a Thursday game that week.
Any requests made after this time will be reviewed the following week. The commissioners will review the list of proposed trades and approve trades at their discretion before the first NFL game of each week. The commissioners will rule as to the validity of a trade based upon the specific player's productivity, the roster and standing of each owner requesting the trade, and the status of the specific players to be traded. This is done in an effort to keep players from unloading talent, and taking advantage of other owners. The commissioners have sole discretion as to the validity of trades. Any trades involving a commissioner are to be approved only by the other commissioner.

  7. Trade Deadline:  Trades will not be accepted after NFL week 12.  Wednesday, November 19th, 2008 is the last day to submit a trade for review.

  8. Injury/Bye Week Points:  If a player does not play for any reason (injury, bye week, suspension, etc.) no points will be scored for that player. Owners should always keep productive backup players on their roster who can be used in the event of an injury, bye week, or other unfortunate situation.

  9. Game Tiebreakers:  In the event of a tied game, the entire roster (starting & bench players) will be used to determine the winner. If the game is still a tie, a coin toss will determine the winner. At least one commissioner and one owner who is not involved in the tie must witness the coin toss.

  10. Playoff Spots & Tiebreakers:  There are 4 playoff spots.  The team with the best win/loss record in each division will earn a playoff spot.  Of the remaining teams, the one with the best win/loss record will also earn a playoff spot as the "Wild Card" team.  In the event of a tie between 2 or more teams, the following rules will be applied in order, one at a time, until the tie is broken:
    1.  The team who won the head-to-head competition between the tied teams will earn the playoff spot.
    2.  The team with the best divisional win/loss record will earn the playoff spot.
    3.  The team with the most points scored by his starting players during the entire season will earn the playoff spot.
    4.  A coin toss will determine the playoff spot.  At least one commissioner and one owner who is not involved in the tie must witness the coin toss.

  11. Team Names:  At the time of the draft, each owner may name his own team. However, during the course of the season, a team may be renamed if such team's performance contradicts the chosen name. For example, a team that was named “the dominators”, will receive another name in the event that the “dominators” don't win on a consistent basis. Any renaming is open for discussion, and each owner may suggest a new name. (Such as the denominators).

  12. Pick 'em Pool and Survivor Pool:  There are two additional pools provided by the MyFantasyLeague.com website. These are enabled just for fun, and there is no prize for the winners (other than bragging rights.) The pick 'em pool is simple, just pick the winners of the NFL games each week. The survivor pool is a little different - each week you pick only one team to win. If you're wrong, you are eliminated from the pool. If you're right, you survive to play on the next week. You can only pick each NFL team once during the season, so choose carefully because as the season goes on, you will have fewer teams to pick from each week.
